Kuyalnik Estuary is the unique body of water separated from the sea artificial interspersing 3 meters wide, with an area of 56 square
kilometers and an average depth -
only 2-3 meters. Due to the
unique sulfide silt, Formed here Kuyalnik
is famous as the oldest mud health resort in Ukraine.
For the first time this problem has
made itself more in 1904-1905. Then the Odessa
City Council and the Joint Stock Company "Kuyal'nitskogo-Khadzhibei
salt fish" decided to allocate money to create a channel that would connect the estuary to the sea and, in fact, would save this natural gem. The second feeding
saltwater estuary was carried out in 1924. During the war, the channel was filled. In 1964, there
were attempts to update it, but the
idea was never implemented.
And here's the problem again. Because of the drought barbaric sand mining from
its coast estuary shallows. The level of salinity
of the water has deteriorated as
a therapeutic pean.
Near the estuary is a sanatorium Kuyalnik located in the city, 13 km from Odessa city center at the foot of Mount Zhevagovoy, which
is already 181 years. This was the heyday
here in the days of
the Soviet Union - then drove
here people from all countries. In the 80s on
the banks of the estuary built
three huge 16-storey building. In past years, this resort is considered the main health resort of Odessa. Heal mud
